Our Program
The Rural Health Farm Worker Protection Safety Program is a program of the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health located at Penn State University. This program is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Plant Industry. The program is run in collaboration with the Penn State Pesticide Education department.
Mission Statement
To assist the Pennsylvania farmer, grower and their employees in understanding and complying with the requirements of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Worker Protection Standard.
We Offer
- Worker Protection Standard (WPS) training to farmers and growers
- Handler and Worker WPS training in language appropriate sessions
- Farm WPS evaluations to help the grower be in compliance with the WPS standard
- Working with grower’s groups to assist them in their concerns
- Working with farm labor groups in addressing their concerns

- Offering a Train the Trainer Program
- Working with health care providers
